Liverpool FC Vs Stoke City Tickets 2016

Liverpool FC

The Fenway Sports Group owns Liverpool Football Club and has been operating for 124 years. Since it its inception, the club has had its base at Anfield. Over the years, LFC has proven its position as one of the top clubs in European football, particularly in the 1970s and '80s. It was the first English club to win three trophies in a season when it took home the European Cup, League Cup and League titles in the 83/84 season.

liverpool vs stoke city ticketsThe decade after 1980 saw the Reds clinch four league cups, six league titles, two FA Cups, five charity shields and two European cups. In total, the club has amassed five European cups and 18 league titles. However, since the 89/90 season, Liverpool has not claimed a single title. The team looked to be getting back on track during the 2014 season when it finished in second place but has not had any successes yet. In the 2014/15 season, LFC ranked number nine in the highest earning clubs in the world with a GBP391 million revenue. Presently, it is number 8 on the most valuable football clubs list. As of 2015, Liverpool holds the record for league finishing position.

LFC's manager Jurgen Klopp is currently working to end the club's title drought but not without some challenges. The Reds suffered a dramatic loss to Bournemouth during their clash on 4 December. Bournemouth stunned Liverpool when they came back from a 3-1 trail to win the match 4-3. This loss saw LFC lose their streak of 15 unbeaten games. LFC looks to boost its defence as Joel Matip is set to join the squad after being out with an injury. The defender's absence has been felt painfully as the club conceded nine goals in three matches. Liverpool seems to be shaping up for its game against Stoke City on December 27.

Stoke City FC

Stoke City FC, one of the founders of the Football League, was founded in 1863, making it the second oldest club. SCFC won promotion to the Premier League in 2008, twenty-three years after it last participated in a top-flight competition. In 1972 the Potters beat Chelsea to win their only major trophy, the Football League Cup. Additionally, the club has won the Football League Trophy twice, in 1992 and 2000. SCFC has participated three times in the FA Cup semi-finals, and in 2011, finished second. For the past three seasons, Stoke City has finished number nine. Its 2013/2014 ninth position was its highest since 1975.

Current manager Mark Hughes is confident about the shape the team is in and has high hopes for their latest match against Arsenal. Since his take over, Hughes has been on a mission to rebrand the Potters to successful competitors in the Premier League. His accumulation of first class players is one way he is doing that. Marc Muniesa is one of those acquisitions, and Hughes is keen on making him stay at the club. Muniesa had expressed a desire to leave, citing the minimal playtime he is getting. He got his second league start in the Potters match against Burnley on 4 December in which he got his first goal in the league. SCFC won two-nil with Mark Walters netting the first goal. Walters has had the same problem as Muniesa, and that is spending a lot of time on the bench.

Another player who seemed could spend the season on the bench is keeper Lee Grant. In the first Premier League game, Grant was summoned when Gary Butland and had an injury relapse. Grant made his presence felt in his debut match against West Brom, which the Potters drew 1-1. In seven games, Grant has had the division's best save success rate. Turning to transfer news, Stoke City is said to be eyeing Schalke's Eric Choupo-Moting, whose contract ends with the 2015/16 season. This move is in anticipation of the possible exit of Wilfred Bony. As per the contract of the Manchester City loaner, he can leave if a Super League club wants him.

From nine games, Stoke City has a total of 18 points, and Hughes is aiming for another top ten finish. Despite a poor season start, the Potters are pushing for a better performance.

Since the first encounter that Liverpool FC and Stoke City FC had in October 1894, the Reds have won 74 matches, the Potters 36 and there have been 40 draws.
