Arsenal versus Crystal Palace - A North v South Battle.

Arsenal versus Crystal Palace is a north versus south battle. It involves two of London's Premier League football clubs with North London club, Arsenal up against South London's Crystal Palace.

Since gaining promotion in 2013 to the Premier League, Crystal Palace has only beaten Arsenal 3 times. The best they have been able to do is a 3-0 win. Crystal Palace are looking for a better outcome this season as the opposition did the double over them last time out. Arsenal, on the other hand, is seeking to break the deadlock at the top of the Premier League and take the lead.

Crystal Palace
1905 saw the founding of Crystal Palace Football Club. The club's name comes from the fact that it started out playing at the site of the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building. They continued to play there until 1915. In 1924, Crystal Palace moved into its current home at Selhurst Park in South London. At the start, Crystal Palace began playing football in the Southern League. It was not until 1920 that they joined the English Football League. Joining the newly formed Third Division, they became its first League champion.

Since their formation, Crystal Palace has seen both good and bad times in their playing fortunes. Having played in each of the Football League's various divisions, it was in 1990 – 1991 that Crystal Palace had their best season when they challenged for the league title. It saw them end the season in third place in the top division. For Crystal Palace, this remains their highest position in the league to date. In 2013 the club gained promotion back into the Premier League where they currently remain.

In their long history, Crystal Palace has seen some success. Their most recent was in 2016 when they were runner-up to Manchester United in the FA Cup final. This was with their current manager, Alan Pardew who became manager at the beginning of 2015.

Arsenal
Arsenal is one of English football's best clubs in the Premier League. It is seventh in Deloitte's list of the World's richest football clubs. The club, which joined the Football League in 1890, have their current home at the Emirates Stadium in North London where they have been since 2006.

When it comes to managers of the club, Arsene Wenger has been Arsenal's manager for 20 years but left Arsenal back in 2016 and now Mikel Arteta is in charge. It was in 1996 that he became Arsenal's manager. Arsene Wenger is the football league's longest-serving and possibly most successful overseas manager. During his time in charge, he has led the club to success in several. English and European competitions. Arsenal's most recent success was in 2015 when they won both the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

This season has seen Arsenal in the top half of the Premier League with only goal difference separating them from the others for the top spot. Arsenal's top goal scorers this season are Saka, Martinelli. Together they have scored over half of all Arsenal's goals this season. If Arsenal can maintain their success, then they are said to have a good chance of winning this season's Premier League. The last time they won the Premier League was in 2004.
