Journey through Time: The Rich History of Manchester City
The club was founded in 1880 under the name St. Mark's on the initiative of Arthur Connell and his daughter, Anna Connell, the rector of St. Mark's Church. They would change their name to Manchester City in 1894 after going by Gorton FC and Ardwick AFC for briefer times.
When Manchester City won the Second Division in 1899, they were promoted to the First Division, the top level of English football, and received their first honors. They went on to win their first major trophy on April 23, 1904, defeating Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at Crystal Palace to win the FA Cup. Despite finishing second in the league that season, City narrowly missed winning the League and Cup double, becoming the first club in Manchester to do so. The club was plagued by charges of financial problems in the seasons that followed the FA Cup victory, which culminated in the suspension of seventeen players in 1906, including captain Billy Meredith, who later transferred across the street to Manchester United. The club relocated to their new purpose-built stadium at Maine Road in Moss Side in 1923 after a fire at Hyde Road destroyed the main stand in 1920.
Etihad Stadium: The Iconic Home of Manchester City
With a 55,000-person domestic football capacity, Manchester City's home stadium, Etihad Stadium, is the sixth-largest football stadium in England and the ninth-largest in the United Kingdom. The stadium was converted from a 38,000 capacity arena to a 48,000 seat football stadium following the 2002 Commonwealth Games at a cost of £22 million to the city council and £20 million to Manchester City. The stadium was initially intended as an athletics arena in Manchester's bid for the 2000 Summer Olympics. City moved from Maine Road to the stadium in the summer of 2003 after agreeing to lease it from Manchester City Council.
The home stadium for Manchester City has won numerous awards and accolades, including one from the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2003 and one from the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2004 for its innovative inclusive building design.

Manchester City's Recent Performances and Current Superstars
Manchester City have completed football in Season 2022/2023. The team of Pep Guardiola has dominated most of their rivals while winning every significant trophy. This season, City has brutally humiliated Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, and not even Europe's most illustrious clubs have escaped the fury of the boys in blue, who defeated Real Madrid 4-0 and Bayern Munich 3-0.
Guardiola was the mastermind behind this undefeated campaign, but he also benefited from a number of outstanding individual efforts that helped City win the FA Cup, the Premier League, and the competition they most desired: the Champions League.
With 61 games played across all competitions, City won 44 of them, giving a fantastic victory percentage of just over 72%. Unsurprisingly, the majority of these (28) came from the league, with eight coming from international competition, six from the FA Cup, and three from the Carabao Cup. This resulted in 84 of our 89 points, which helped us win our fifth championship in six seasons, thanks to our 28 Premier League victories. We only lost seven games in total (five in the league, one each in the League Cup and Community Shield), and we went undefeated in the FA Cup and Champions League.

Legendary Icons - Notable Figures in Manchester City's History
Mike Summerbee - Mike Summerbee is among the best players to don the Man City sky blue in terms of longevity and all-around skill. The forward played for City from 1965 to 1975; while his name may not be as well-known around the globe as some other players', his reputation as one of the best to play the position in English football endures to this day. He assisted the team in winning the First Division, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, and is still regarded as a club legend. Before the new glory days, those were the glory days.
Vincent Kompany - The defensive stalwart from Belgium, Vincent Kompany, shown leadership and dedication while playing for Manchester City. Due to his strong defensive play and knack for scoring important goals, Kompany served as a role model for both his teammates and the crowd. The pinnacle of his captaincy occurred during one of his final games for the team in the 2018–19 campaign, when he scored an incredible long-range goal against Leicester City to secure City's finish above of Liverpool and the Premier League title.
David Silva - David Silva is the player that best embodies the word "elegant," . He is more well-known as a Premier League legend than many others in recent memory. Silva was so exceptional while he was a member of the team that it might take some time for City to find another player of his caliber. He routinely led the team and helped them win four Premier League championships. He also played a key role in Spain's legendary run that saw them win the World Cup and two straight European Championships. He unquestionably has one of the most extensive trophy collections in City history.
Kevin de Bruyne - When Kevin de Bruyne retires, he'll probably be remembered as the greatest Premier League midfielder ever. He appears to be one of those athletes who will always play football and, as a result, sees his fame grow steadily outside of football as time passes. The Belgian international has made 334 games and has been involved in 227 goals, which are astounding stats. It's safe to say that the team has won the day considering how many people scoffed when City paid £55 million to sign him from Wolfsburg.
Sergio Aguero - Sergio Aguero could have retired after sealing the title in the last minute of the 2012 season, and still, for one, have the most iconic moment that the Premier League is ever likely to see, and, two, remain the most famous player in Manchester City history. It's the effect a situation like that would have on a player. He did not waste this popularity, furthering his reputation in the Premier League. He continued to score goals throughout his time with City, finishing with 260 goals in 390 games. He shone so brightly while he was at City, but his forced retirement is still a tragic story. As harsh as it may sound, Manchester City may not have had as much success historically as Liverpool or Manchester United, but despite this, the Citizens have produced some of the most illustrious players in English football history, leading to the most iconic moment in Premier League history. Erling Haaland, one of the most well-known footballers in the world even before he has touched a Premier League ball, is certain to have something to say about this list as well. We could be looking at the most well-liked striker in sport after his debut season in England's top division
Leading the Charge: The Current Mastermind, Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has been the Manchester City manager since the start of the 2016/17 campaign. The former FIFA World Coach of the Year agreed to move to Man City for the 2016/17 Premier League season after three years in Munich. Man City came in third, and then in the next season, between August and December 2017, they won 18 games in a row, which was a Premier League record. After beating Arsenal 3-0 in the 2018 Carabao Cup final, Guardiola won the first of his eight big titles in England. During the 2017–18 Premier League season, they were unbeatable. Guardiola won his first English league title with 106 goals, 32 wins, and 100 points. His Man City team kept the title the next season and won it again in 2020/21. They also won the FA Cup, three more EFL Cups, and made it to the final of the UEFA Champions League. In 2021/22, Guardiola would lead his team to another Premier League title. It would be City's second in a row and their fourth in the last five years. In November 2022, the club gave Guardiola a new deal that will keep him there until the end of the 2024/25 season. Guardiola is only the second boss, after Sir Alex Ferguson, to lead his team to three straight Premier League titles. This happened when Guardiola's City team won the 2022/23 title. City would also win the FA Cup and its first Champions League trophy, tying Man Utd's famous treble in 1998/99.

Manchester City's Fierce Rivalries
The Manchester Derby - The Manchester derby refers to football matches between Manchester City and Manchester United, first contested in 1881. City play at the City of Manchester Stadium in Bradford, east Manchester, while United play at Old Trafford in the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester; the two grounds are separated by approximately 4 miles (6.4 km). The teams have played 190 matches in all competitions, United winning 78, City 59, and the remaining 53 having been drawn. Together, they have won 29 Premier League Title's, 19 FA Cups, 14 League Cups, 27 FA Community Shields, 4 Champions Leagues, 1 Europa League, 2 UEFA Cup Winner's Cups, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and one Cup World Cup.
Manchester City vs Liverpool - This rivalry is one traditionally associated with United rather than City, but the blue half of Manchester is now getting in on the act. In recent years, these two teams have been the best in English football. Along the way, there have been some memorable fights for the title and classic games that will be remembered forever. Since 2016, five of the six Premier League titles have been won by Liverpool and Manchester City. The 2018-19 race for the title definitely made the competition worse. To win the title by one point on the last game day, Manchester City had to win all of their last 14 games. Even in the 2021–22 season, the league title was decided in the last few minutes. City came back from being down two goals to beat Aston Villa and win the league title at the cost of Liverpool.
Fan Culture - Sea of Blue - The Passionate Fanbase of Manchester City
People have said that City fans can "revel in adversity," which is shown by the fact that average match attendances went up when the club dropped to the second and then third tiers of English football for the first and only time in its history in 1998. Since the club moved to the City of Manchester Stadium in 2003, they have sold about 36,000 season tickets every year, and their average crowd has been in the top five in English football since then. Fans of Manchester City are easy to spot because they wear sky blue, which is only worn by a few professional football teams in England. The City fans' favorite song is a version of "Blue Moon." They are also known for their inflatables, which are usually yellow bananas. [6] These bananas can still be seen at some games, usually when City is in a cup run. Many City fans started the inflatables as a joke after a City player, Imre Varadi, was called "Banana." This is how the inflatable bananas got their name.

Manchester City's Community Engagement and Philanthropy Efforts
Manchester City's community story began in 1880 when the Connell family in Gorton harnessed the power of football to support their local community. With the start of its charity, City in the Community, in 1986, Manchester City made its 100-year pledge to social responsibility official. City in the Community has been helping people in Greater Manchester live healthier lives through sports for more than 30 years. The focus of our youth-led programs is on physical and mental health, as well as building healthy prospects and communities.

Ownership and Financial Health of Manchester City
Manchester City Football Club dates back to 1894, when Ardwick A.F.C. dissolved and were reformed as Manchester City Football Club Ltd. In recent years, Manchester City Football Club has had a lot of different owners with different amounts of money. This is similar to the team's inconsistent play on the field. The club is currently owned by the City Football Group, which is a holding company. The Abu Dhabi United Group owns most of the club, but a smaller group of owners from the U.S. and China owns 24%.
Since August 4, 2008, Sheikh Mansour has bought most of the club. He is one of the richest people in football, with a personal net worth of at least £17 billion and a family fortune of around $1 trillion.[1] The club's parent company, CFG, was worth $3 billion when the CITIC Group bought a 13.79% stake in it for £265 million.
Sheikh Mansour is a businessman with many different ventures. He is a member of the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi and owns the Abu Dhabi United Group. He is also the majority owner of the Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation, which runs The National, Abu Dhabi's English-language daily newspaper, and Sky News Arabia. He is also in charge of a number of important jobs in the United Arab Emirates. He is the UAE's Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council. In 2017, the Sheiks were also named Vice-Chairman of Mubadala investing Company, which is one of the biggest state-owned investing funds in the world.
Manchester City is the crown jewels of CFG’s sports portfolio, but the company also owns:
• New York City FC
• Melbourne City FC
• Yokohama F. Marinos
• Montevideo City Torque
• Girona
• Sichuan Jiuniu
• Mumbai City FC
• Lommel SK
• ES Troyes AC
• Palermo
